What’s your result? Are you just satisfied to adequate food and clothing? Do you feel it accurate when you are experiencing setbacks?

Be honest! You do want to gain truly happy. No matter what kind of lifestyle you prefer, the ultimate goal is to gain happiness. Especially, the improving material things make the quality of life become much better than before, people more focus on the abundance of the soul instead of money or rights. This consensus of life is developed to a kind of mental culture over time. People more care about the mental healthy from personal standpoint, striving to pursue happiness of life.

However, the mortal enemy of the happiness--setback--is the biggest impediment to obtain happiness. How to revive good feeling when people are covered by negative emotions caused by setbacks become a big issue.

The reason why I notice this problem, since I sew the Adele’s music video, “Rolling in the Deep”. Adele presents a woman experienced the failure in love, covering by many bad feelings. What shocks me in this video is that she chooses to fight with setbacks. The video is expressed well in inner details, when she experiences her unhappy lovelorn. More important, she expresses a full process that fights with the negative feeling. Get right view of setbacks and recognize its essence; learn from it; adjust attitude and head off again that what’s I want to say!

Want to get rid of disencumber, and gain happiness? Since the bad feelings caused by setbacks are inevitable, just help yourself! Nobody should yield to failure, come on, you can change it to your valuable resources.

Look this video and try my method. I think you will have some of results!

  1. Shock is the only impression when I first listened Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. Not only because the content, in other words, the lyrics, expresses the desperate and emotional torment she once suffered, but the way she sings it is not depressed at all. On the contrary, it makes me feel full of strength. However, I think some part of the blog is a little subjective and not quite convincing. You come up with your conclusion without giving a reason. Why do you think setback is the biggest impediment in the road to happiness? Besides setback there are plenty of elements like jealous, poverty, greedy, dissatisfaction and so forth could make people depress. Many factors will affect the evaluation of which element is the major reason causes unhappy in different situation or according different people. Anyway, I think it is a complicated interaction, and you’d better have more in-depth thinking for this topic.

  2. I like the song!It is encouraging. Yes I agree with your idea. The material stuff can bring us happiness, but temporary. However, a moral victory can bring people a deep memory of happiness sometimes. Like the girl singing in the song, even sometimes she was been beaten the torture, it did not meaning the failure. Make a brake and go ahead. It made her feel happy. Being strong and never walk away will make one successful and happniess. However, I guess not every one can do this. We all know that we should not give up but sometimes things will be out of control. In this situation people are perfer to give up their spirit of "being strong and being happniess" and turn to search temporary happniess to "release" themselves. This is a psychological probelm and may need further more exploration.

  3. Yep, I totally agree with you that “the ultimate goal is to gain happiness”. According to Freud, the pursuit of happiness is the purpose and intention of all people. And I’m quite surprised that you can dig out so much information from a 4 minutes music video which basically has no back story at all. I feel like that you can refine the article by detailing how to “help yourself”. Having the willing to fight and a positive mind set alone is not enough to “get rid of disencumber and gain happiness”. The most important thing is to find out how to resolve the difficulties.

  4. Rolling in the Deep really shocked me and touched my heart when I first listened to it. It contains so much complex emotion of Adele that made this song thrilling and moving. However, it seems that Adele did not aim at just expressing her fevered emotion, but instead, she was trying to compress it. She yelled out "you played my heart", experiencing the torment and struggled to get her mind back. She had almost fallen into the bottom of her life. However, she keeps fighting with the depression and sadness in her heart and trying to heal herself. Actually, it was not the abundant emotion that moved me, but her strong will to fight back that touched my heart. Everyone may have setbacks, but some people just sink into the bad emotion and never try to overcome it and stand up again, which really leads to the failure. Bad emotion is never the excuse that make us stop pursuing happiness. I think this is an interesting and inspiring topic and I like what you have said about "changing it (failure) into valuable resources". But how? I think maybe you could write more about how to adjust our emotions and turn the setbacks into valuable sources.
